In the election of 2008 California had a ballot measure (Proposition 8) it which the people of California voted if the definition of marriage should be between a man and a women. The ballot measure passed 52%-48% which meant that California no longer allowed same sex marriage. A judge 2 days ago ruled that proposition 8 was unconstitutional. The judge said that Proposition 8 was no more than a way to discriminate gays from not giving them the right to marry. Now this unfortunately doesn't allow same sex couples to marry , because of the appeal that will happen. People expect it to go all the way to the supreme court. I think this is great I hope all same sex couples in the U.S will soon have the right to marry as they are aloud in many other countries. This is defiantly a step towards equality.
