Conservatives Against Multiculturalism !

First the Bloc now the Conservatives! Although the Conservatives did something different then not allowing Kirpans in Parliament instead they are reducing Immigration levels. Canada has a history for a long time to accept immigrants of many countries. Now Visas to allow Immigrants to the country to get a new life will be decreased by 5% even though this sounds like a little the fact that the Government would even lower the number is wrong. Canada gets skilled workers, an increase in population, more consumers and more tax payers which help pay for our services. We should be at minimum at least maintain immigration levels if not increase the numbers of immigrants. I am not saying that anyone who wants can just walk in and is a citizens, but allow people who want to come and start a better life for them or for there children have a place that they can immigrate to. The Conservatives should be ashamed to lower the number of Visas. This cut will hurt Immigrants parents the most and even cut skilled worker visas. The Conservatives are against more workers to help Canada's economy and supports fewer consumers so that the economy moves slower.

'Frankly, there's a better chance of the parents seeing a coffin before a Canadian visa.'— Richard Kurland, Vancouver immigration lawyer
The numbers show the government will issue about 56,000 federal skilled worker visas overseas, down from nearly 70,000 issued last year — a drop of about 20 per cent.

Doctor Discrimination in Quebec

The Globe hits the bullseye on this one. In today's paper, there is an editorial criticizing the way foreign applicants for residency programs are accepted and rejected. In fact, of the foreign doctors who had passed medical equivalence exams in Quebec, two thirds did not get residency positions. This is unacceptable when there were 85 positions free and there is a shortage of general practitioners. Quebec should move to have more and more foreign-trained doctors working in our hospitals. We need them.
Quebec, a province with a critical shortage of family doctors, discriminates against foreign-trained physicians and makes it difficult for them to become medical residents, the final step to gain a licence to practise medicine. It is a habit that needs to end. In the global competition for talent, Quebec will lose out.

Are Immigrants Voting Conservative?

According to this article in the Globe and Mail, yes. This is very surprising as the Liberal party has been THE party of immigrants since a long time ago. However, immigrants, are coming to Canada with more social conservative views. That means that there is more chance that the immigrants will ditch our Big Red Tent for the cold Tories. But, to make things better, the second generation of immigrants, born in this country are more progressive.
And though Helen Poon is giving serious thought to voting Conservative, her 12-year-old son, a proud cadet, has a very different view.
He came home from school one day urging her not to vote Conservative, Ms. Poon said.
In several years, it will be interesting to see what happens to Canada's political landscape. The Liberal party must continue to reach out to sell our message to the new citizens of this country.

They finaly do something.

Ever since Arizona passed it's new immigration bill the ignored issue of Immigration started to be center stage on policy needs in the U.S. Even though parts of the Arizona law has been put away the Obama Government has been pressured to do something about Illegal Immigration. Now they finally did something a new bill passed that gives 600 million dollars on border security. This means more money for officers to stop illegal information, new vehicles and 14 million in new communication devices. The bill is expected to be funded buy giving higher fees to companies who hire illegal immigrants. Even though I don't agree with parts of Arizona's law I think that you have to hand it to them for putting the issue center stage.

President Obama will sign a bill Friday that provides $600 million in emergency funding to help secure the U.S.-Mexico border.
Among other things, the bill provides for roughly 1,500 new law enforcement agents, new unmanned aerial vehicles, new forwarding operating bases and $14 million in new communications equipment.
The bill is funded in part by imposing higher fees on personnel companies that bring foreign workers into the United States.

Lady Gaga knows how to protest.

Lady Gaga was in Arizona some days ago , and told her crowed of fans at her concert , and said that many people asked her to boycott Arizona because of the immigration bill. Now I am not much of a supporter of the immigration bill with the parts that force only immigrants to have to carry papers saying that they are legal. that part of the law was put away, but I congratulate Lady Gaga on her stance not to punish the people of the state, because of a law some people of Arizona might not agree with. This comes back to environmental groups wanting to ban the travel of Alberta, because of the oil sands. I think Lady Gaga has the right way to protest by telling her fans that the only way to get rid of it is to protest the law peacefully. I think first going to Arizona instead boycotting and saying what she said against the law gave more attention to her cause. I think the environmental groups should take a page in Lady Gaga's book and see that if you get the people to protest the law/oil sands inside the province/state it will work better than to punish the people who might not agree with the law/oil sands. I want to clear I only support the part of the bill that allows police to be able to check the legal status of someone only if there is a legitimate reason (not Racial profiling)

Judge stops parts of Arizona law.

A federal Judge said "No" to parts of the Arizona Immigration bill. Now the parts of the bill that has been put away is that Police officers don't have to check the legal status of someone while they are enforcing other laws. I think that if there is a legitimate reason to suspect that they are illegal Immigrant then they can check. I think racial discrimination isn't a legitimate reason. They also got rid of the law that requires all immigrants to carry there legal status with them for now. I hate that part of the bill, and I am glad that they are putting this aside. I feel that why do just Immigrants need to carry there legal status with them, because if a police officer has a legitimate reason to check someone why would it only be Immigrant's they check since they are the only one's carrying it. I say if Illegal Immigration is that bad then make sure that everybody holds there legal status, and not just one group. I am pretty glad about this verdict, and hope that this can still be in the news enough to pressure the U.S branches of government to create a solution against Illegal immigration.

Rand Paul for once I agree with you

You may all know about how I have mentioned how I disagree with Rand Paul on some issues, but here is one me and him are in agreement. He said that he wants to stop the law that would allow the illegal immigrants children who are born in the U.S citizenship. The current law in the U.S is that if you are born there you have citizenship, but if there was an illegal immigrant who came in the U.S then had a baby born in the U.S that baby would have citizenship. This is not fair how a baby can get become a citizen of a country, because his mom broke the law, and went into the U.S. This is not correct , and it encourages people to illegally immigrate so their baby can legally be a citizen.
"We are the only country I know of that allows people to come in illegally, have a baby, and then that baby becomes a citizen," Paul said. "And I think that should stop also."
Legislation referred to as the Birthright Citizenship Act of 2009, a bill that has 91 co-sponsors, would modify the Immigration and Nationality Act to prevent U.S. citizenship for individuals born to undocumented immigrants

Kidnapped by the Government

Noah Kirkman was detained by the State of Oregon in 2008 after riding a bicycle with no helmet. He was then determined to have no legal guardian in Oregon and became a ward of the state in a foster home. He has not been released despite a series of legal battles. Yesterday, his mother asked Prime Minister Stephen Harper to step into the fight and push the US to return the boy. This is awful. How can a 10 year old boy be detained in the US for two years and not be given back to his parents. The boy is a citizen of Canada. He should return to Canada and his parents immediately, especially, with action from the Canadian government. A motion should be passed unanimously in Parliament calling for the immediate release of the boy. We cannot just sit around and do nothing. We must take action and now!
Taking direct aim at Prime Minister Stephen Harper, a Calgary mom whose son has been made a ward of the state in Oregon called for the feds to step in.
Lisa Kirkman, who has been fighting to have her 12-year-old son Noah returned to Canada for almost two years after authorities in the U.S. state tore him from his family, took to the streets of Calgary Sunday to call on the federal government to get involved in the case that has attracted international attention.

Arizona bill racist or needed

A new Arizona bill has been seen as racist or needed. Now, no matter what you think of the bill here is what is in it. Police are going to have the right to check someones legal status if they have a justified reason. Here is the question is this racist. The bill does offer training to law enforcement.
"This training will include what does and does not constitute reasonable suspicion that a person is not legally present in the United States," Brewer said after signing the bill.
So this is clear on how law enforcement will have justified reasons to enact this law. So I think this part of the bill makes sense, but maybe they should have more training and make it more strict on policeman who discriminate. The only part of this bill I do not support is that all immigrants must carry their papers to show that they are immigrants. This is outrageous! I think this part of the bill is discriminative that only immigrants have to have there papers all the time, and what if they forgot it? Is the state going to put them to jail, or deport an American citizen to Mexico?
"Racial profiling is illegal. It is illegal in America, and it's certainly illegal in Arizona," Brewer said.
"This training will include what does and does not constitutereasonable suspicion that a person is not legally present in the UnitedStates," Brewer said after signing the bill.
The bill requires immigrants to carry their alien registration documents at all times and requires police to question people if there is reason to suspect that they're in the United States illegally. It also targets those who hire illegal immigrant day laborers or knowingly transport them.
