Climate Skeptic In The West

It seems I have one more reason I don't want the Wildrose alliance to win. But Alberta's according to recent polls have them at a 7% point lead. The PC are in second, the NDP and the Liberals way far behind.

"We have always said the science isn't settled and we need to continue to monitor the debate,"
Yes the Wildrose is saying that the science isn't settled, and therefor don't have a major plan to reduce emissions. Even though 97% of climate scientist agree that humans are causing man made climate change. Even the PC in the oil rich province of Alberta agree that global warming is real and CO2 emissions are causing it. This isn't just Danielle Smith personal belief this is party policy.

A Wildrose official confirmed Smith's statement reflects a longtime party policy.
I don't know why I didn't remember this before Rick Mercer went with Danielle Smith for a day and they discussed global warming, and she admitted her skepticism of climate change. I think that having one of the most polluting provinces in Alberta led by a party that doesn't believe in a science that is fully settled ruins any chances of achieving the needed 80% reduction of CO2 emissions by 2050.

The Republicans on the Enviorment Part 3

Now I am going to analyze the stance of the last three candidates in the GOP on the Environment. These candidates are Rick Santorum from Pennsylvania, Business person Herman Cain and from Utah John Huntsman.

Rick Santorum went on Rush Limbaugh show and called global warming "Junk Science", and he continues to say that global warming is fake. When i go on his website I don't see a plan at all for energy, but he clearly will have no interest in saving the environment or regulating companies to lower there emission, because he doesn't believe in the "junk science" that 97%-98% of climate scientist actively working in the field believe in man made science.

Herman Cain also doesn't believe in Climate change, but he has a Ron Paul Approach to energy. Let the market to everything. He wouldn't be for government intervention. He thinks that Americans should wait until oil becomes to expensive that companies will move to other resources of energy like wind, solar  and hydroelectric, but he has no plan to try a and push companies to move to those other resources. He wants to wait until companies extract all the resources and hurt the economy so much that they will be forced to change there energy policies. That takes way too much time the world needs renewable energy right now!

Then comes John Hutsman. He actually wrote on twitter "To be clear. I believe in evolution and trust scientists on global warming. Call me crazy." Finally a republican that believes in the science. Now I won't talk about evolution, but John Hutsman believes in global warming, but how much? Well he thinks that the Republicans are "the anti-science party", that Republicans "take a position that basically runs counter to what 98 of 100 climate scientists have said" and that the Republican party is "on the wrong side of science." Isn't that a breath of fresh air, he doesn't question the science and doesn't escape it by saying he doesn't know how much man is involved, but while Hutsman supports reducing pollution he has since 2011 taken back his policy of Cap and trade. Which is a good thing Cap and trade is bad, but he has no plan on the environment.

Now that I am done looking up all the 8 Republican candidates policy on the environment let's see the results. 4/8 Republican candidates are fully against the science of global warming,  another 3/8 question the science and 8/8 don't have a serious plan to tackle it. The Republican party is the party of no action on Global warming.

The Republican and the Environment part 2

If any of you didn't look at my last post I am looking into the Republicans and there environment stance I already did Bachman now for Mitt Romney and Gingrich and Ron Paul.

Mitt Romney the front-runner of the Republican party has a very "Bush" and "Harper" position on Global warming. Mitt Romney said earlier in the year that he believes that the world is getting warmer. Horayyy! But he says "I don't know how much humans are contributing to that", but he still believes in reducing Co2 emissions. Then he talked about his solutions and he said use "Natural Gas." Yes Natural gas is better than Oil and I would rather have a Natural gas plant than an Oil plant, but both are non sustainable energy resources, and both still pollute the planet. Natural Gas can't be his entire solution to Global warming right? Well that all he has offered up so far. A few days ago in New Hamshire he said "What I'm not willing to do is spend trillions of dollars on something I don't know the answer to," Again the Republican party exaggeration of what needs to be done and understanding that we will all pay for global warming. This is Why Romney is a Bush and Harper guy. He kind of makes us think he believes in global warming, but offers no real solution for it, and isn't about to get serious at all about Climate change. (by the way Mitt Romney in 2007 said that he would support a global Cap and trade system)

Gingrich a few years back sat on a couch with Nancy Pelosi asking the congress do to something about climate change now! Well today Gingrich has completely changed his opinion now he says he wants a national inquiry into climate change. Again questioning the science that has already been proven. Gingrich is going to be very slow on climate change because he refuses to look at the facts. I liked 2007 Gingrich much better than today. In 2007 Gingrich wanted action now and he even explained I think perfectly the situation. he sais that Conservatives don't move on the environment, because they think that to address the issue you are going to raise taxes and have more government, so the Republicans don't talk about Climate change. Then he goes off to say that Republicans need to have there way to reduce emission without having more government. In 2007 I would have welcomed that ,because in Gingrich said the U.S has to "Move towards most effective possible steps to reduce carbon loading." So as you can see Gingrich now doesn't want to do anything right now.He went from "The Evidence is Sufficient" to "National Inquiry"

Ron Paul Isn't to much different. Although usually Ron Paul is the person who stands out on a issue. This time he has a very similar stance to these guys He questions the science of global warming, but really says that it doesn't matter for the federal government, because he thinks that the free market will handle everything. For example Ron Paul solution to moving to renewable energy get the government out of that . He would eliminate subsidies to fossil fuels, but would also eliminate subsidies to renewable energy. (this would be a win as fossil fuels are subsidized way more than renewable energy) The Only problem is that this won't fix the whole problem. Believing that government should not be in the solution will cause a slow reaction from the world. We need the government to give companies the push to be Eco friendly. Just waiting for it will take too much time.

Now that I am done with these guys I am going to concentrate on the last three John Huntsman, Herman Cain, Rick Santorum.

The Republicans on the Environment

I have decided to look at all the people who would like to become the President of the U.S and look at there platform. Issue by issue. Since I already talked about Rick Perry and the Environment. Let's check all the other candidates plan on the Environment today will be on Michelle Bachman. She stood in the house of representatives and said "that CO2 is a natural byproduct of nature" and therefor can't harm us. Yes CO2 is a natural substance, but what Bachman may have not been told that natural things can be toxic to ourselves. She says that CO2 is necessary for the planet to exist. Yes CO2 is necessary for the planet to exist that doesn't mean that too much of it isn't bad. Take this for example arsenic is natural yet having it can kill you! Just because something is natural doesn't mean that it can't harm you. Examples like animals or tobacco plants are natural, but a lion can kill you and so can smoking. The only thing is that the "does makes the poison" as Paracelsus would say. That means that everything can technically kill you. No matter how "natural" it may be. In fact eating too many apples or drinking too much water can kill you. Of course you have to have a lot, but it happens occasionally. So if you have enough CO2 on the planet even though CO2 is "Natural" and is important to the planet having to much of it has caused problems. Today we are currently seeing that humans are emitting an enormous amount of CO2 that is unprecedented .reducing are CO2 emissions is a good thing not to the point where there is no CO2 on the planet, but to sustainable level. The thing is that CO2 stay' in the atmosphere for 40 years that means that even if we emit zero today the effects of climate change have reached a bare minimum. People like Michelle Bachman who call CO2 "a harmless gas" make it easy to see there plan for the Environment and the future. Nothing! Next on my list Romney and Gingrich. See Bachman's entire speech on Global warming here

Perry and the World

Rick Perry has again proven that he doesn't believe in global warming. He thinks that just because the world has proven time and time again strange weather and heating climate is just "manipulated data." Maybe Rick Perry is talking about the Bush administration who have been manipulating climate data for years. Rick Perry thinks money on Climate change will cost the nations billion. Yes that is true, but no only is this money needed it helps the country. Green jobs are the jobs of the future, and yes turning to renewable energy does cost money, but they have savings in the future and don't forget Perry your state is going to run dry soon on oil and then you will have no energy if you don't plan. This is also funny because Perry if you didn't know fossil fuels are subsidized more than renewable energy, and fossil fuels subsidize are a waste on money.

"We are seeing almost weekly, or even daily, scientists are coming forward and questioning the original idea that man-made global warming is what is causing the climate to change," the U.S. presidential candidate told an audience of several hundred voters, business leaders and local officials who gathered for a breakfast in Bedford.
97% of Climate scientist the people who are trained in the field believe that climate change is man made. So even if few out of hundreds  think the science is bad it still doesn't make the 97% wrong. Climate change is real.

National Academy of Sciences findings that fossil fuel combustion is the primary cause of global warming and that earth surface temperatures have risen above the 20th-century average every month since the mid-1980s.
The U.N. has warned that there is so much carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere that even if concentrations held at current levels, the effects of global warming would continue for centuries.
The only person who is "manipulating date" is Rick Perry himself  he should know that Climate change is caused by humans and the world needs to move away from fossil fuels now! Rick Perry has no plan for the environment.

Let's get Real On Climate Change!

Many people like to point to the oil companies for the blame of Climate change, but households contribute to 45% of all emissions. That means if we wish to achieve the goal most climate scientist say will help us avoid disaster we need to reduce household emissions. We must reduce our emissions by 80% by 2050. So even if all industries close there doors today we would still need to cut household emissions by more than half. An easy way to start reducing emissions considering the energy sector is responsible for 82% of emissions is a shift to cleaner sources of energy such as wind and hydro instead of oil and gas for heating and for industry.  Since motor fuel use is increasing it's share of emission promoting public transit will curve that. Products that we buy which contribute heavily to emission as in order to make and distribute a product CO2 a byproduct is released. In order to make it easier for consumer for consumers to by more Eco friendly product without hurting their bottom line. I have urge this forever a Carbon Tax that gives consumers a rebate so that the more Eco friendly product is actually the more cheaper product and can actually save you money. All of these proposals will make a big scratch, but all Canadians as citizens of the world must act together to conserve energy and the planet for generations to come. We must get real on climate change.

The Arctic is Hot

This year, Canada has experienced high average temperatures, especially in the Arctic. If the trend continues, it will be one of the hottest on record since 1850, just behind 1998 and 2005. We have to take caution here not to fall into the trap that so many do. Some people would take this and say, "temperatures are lower now than in 1998." But the reality is that it's the overall trend that matters and temperature has been increasing since the industrial age.

It's very important to make sure the Arctic doesn't melt along with its permafrost. Inside the permafrost there are gas bubbles composed of methane. This will do much more to raise temperatures than carbon dioxide. We should commit to reducing our emissions and preventing ourselves from sliding down a slippery slope.
In a report released Thursday at the climate summit in Cancun, the United Nations agency said the global average temperature in 2010 was tracking to be one of the three warmest since readings began to be taken in 1850, just behind 1998 and 2005.

Artic ice is melting at almost record rate.

The Arctic as we all know is the part of the planet that will be effected the most by climate change. In the first half of this year Arctic melting is almost at a record high pace. In Northern Canada monthly ratings show that the temperature is 4 degrees above average. Greenland has had the hottest air temperature recorded ice caps in Greenland has been breaking out (ex: the largest ice glacier loss for the country occurred this summer at Petermann Glacier which was about 3 times bigger than Manhattan). Now what will 4 degrees in the north do to us here? Last winter has had major snow storm to the mid Atlantic and northeast part of the U.S, because of higher Arctic temperature. Since the colder air is usually held up in the Arctic it doesn't go south, but because of Arctic melting the cold air went down to the south. We need to stop this trend! This report only proves again that Climate change is real.

Hottest year in Canada!

The hottest year in Canada is predicted to be 2010 if current trends continue into the fall. The record was last in 1998 when the temperature was just 2.5 degrees above normal all year round, and  so far this year the weather is 3.5 degrees above normal since January to July. If the trends continue for the rest of the year than we should see our weather being the hottest year on record. This is proof again that global warming is happening the climate is changing and in total it creates an increase in are weather above normal temperature. This proves that we need to act on global warming before some effects are to late to reverse. We still have time to stop many harmful effects, but arguing about science that is right in front of you isn't going to help us act.

Need any more proof about global warming.

An ice island 4 times the size of Manhattan has fell off Greenland and is now it's own island. This is the biggest chuck of ice to break of the arctic ice caps since 1962. This is a 260 kilometer ice island half the height of the empire state building. This shows how that the northern Hemisphere as predicted has seen the biggest increase in temperature, and as predicted is seeing major ice melting that is causing these ice islands to pop up in the arctic. Do we need anymore proof. I think the signs are showing that we need to take action now or if we wait and sit on our hands then enjoy the ice free arctic ocean.

The 260 square-kilometer (100 square miles) ice island separated from the Petermann Glacier in northern Greenland early on Thursday, researchers based at the University of Delaware said.
"The freshwater stored in this ice island could keep the Delaware or Hudson rivers flowing for more than two years. It could also keep all U.S. public tap water flowing for 120 days,"
Environmentalists say ice melt is being caused by global warming with Arctic temperatures in the 1990s reaching their warmest level of any decade in at least 2,000 years, according to a study published in 2009.

Climate Change is the truth.

A new study made by international scientist support the fact that climate change is real. The scientist show that all the effects that climate change was expected to do has happened. Everything from air temperature is going up to humidity, and everything from Artic ice to glaciers has been disapering. This just restate the thruth about the climate of the planet that it is actually happening, and that he so called "Climategate" is just one big hoax. The truth is that the global temeprature has risen 0.56 °C.  Which means that the Climate is changing , and that We should stop arguing on the truth (that the climate is changing) and talk about solution to the problem like a Carbon Tax and investments in alternative energy.

But Jane Lubchenco, the administrator of NOAA, said the study found that the average temperature in the world had increased by 0.56° C (1° F) over the past 50 years. The rise "may seem small, but it has already altered our planet ... Glaciers and sea ice are melting, heavy rainfall is intensifying, and heat waves are more common."
International scientists have injected fresh evidence into the debate over global warming, saying that climate change is "undeniable" and shows clear signs of "human fingerprints" in the first major piece of research since the "Climategate" controversy.
Seven indicators were rising, he said. These were: air temperature over land, sea-surface temperature, marine air temperature, sea level, ocean heat, humidity, and tropospheric temperature in the "active-weather" layer of the atmosphere closest to the earth's surface.
Four indicators were declining: Arctic sea ice, glaciers, spring snow cover in the northern hemisphere, and stratospheric temperatures.

climate truth.

People came up to Washington DC , and told the US government that they need to have a climate bill based on true science and not denials. They brought an ice sculpture that has the globe on top and is under an ice sculpture that says "climate deniers". As the day went on the ice sculpture kept melting till the globe fell off the ice sculpture.  I think they're message was clear. They want clean jobs on clean renewable energy. They talked how the climate is changing , and how the US with their current climate bill has to be on stopping climate change. Now I don't support a cap and trade bill, but I support a carbon tax. Let's face it the U.S needs money what better way to get then from the big oil companies that are getting those big tax cuts. I say they could save billions of dollars that can go to spending on clean energy, and helping stimulate the economy even more or just reduce the deficits.

The Climate is changing.

Again new proof comes out that last month was the hotest June on record. This also makes the 304 consecutive month that global tempurature is above the 20th century average. People should not be saying that the world is not changing. The climate is clearly changing. We need to try to stop this trend, so that there is the planet we know to still be there. We need to start doing stuff now. Acting is over due, and has not been talked about enough. To the people who think that the planet is not changing. Please explain to me these trends showing the climate is changing. Explain to me how all the facts lead to the proof that the climate is changing , and we are the one's who have to fix it.

Last month was the hottest June ever recorded worldwide and the fourth consecutive month that the combined global land and sea temperature records have been broken, according to the US government's climate data centre.

The trend to a warmer world is now incontrovertible. According to NOAA, June was the 304th consecutive month with a combined global land and surface temperature above the 20th-century average.
"These are clear signs of a rapidly warming world and exactly what the climate models have predicted. Thankfully, there is a way out of it if we can get greenhouse gas emissions under control," said Ben Stewart of Greenpeace.

There is no "ClimateGate"

An Independent report released Wednesday shows that the so called "Climategate" is not real it cleared the scientist. So if anyone just thought that the hacked emails prove that there is no such thing as Global Warming I regret to inform you that this is the second time the climate scientist were cleared. So all the words like Trick was just meaning  "A way to handle information". So let's stop arguing about the science because it is clear that there is Climate change. We need to keep trying to reduce our CO2  from the air to help stop Global warming. If you are still a skeptic I say that look at the science, and Climate change is not just temperature changes oil is leaving and is dangerous, so think of renewable energy that is not leaving. So don't think that climate change is just the  environment it is also energy needs and economics.

In his submission, Jones told the review that "the word 'trick' was not intended to imply any deception, simply the 'best way of doing or dealing with something.'"
The scandal fueled skepticism about the case for global warming just weeks before world leaders met to agree a global deal on climate change at a United Nations conference in Copenhagen last December.

Voices for Climate Change

A nice song made by various artists on climate change. Climate change is happening now. The consequences will be dire if we do not take action. Our carbon emissions must be reduced. Many Canadians are doing just that, but without the intervention of the government, not much more can happen. We need a carbon tax and soon.

Bangladesh Biodiversity

Climate change is harming the world's ecosystems. Now, we can only see the major consequences in the poor countries. The sad thing is that they don't cause climate change; we do. However, they are the ones who are paying. It's not only climate change that is killing the animals. It's cutting down forests, polluting water and air: basically, destroying their habitat. The ecosystem can't deal with such changes so fast. We must keep preserving the environment for biodiversity of the world and so that the consequences won't keep growing. How many more wake-up calls do there need to be?

It Hits the Poor

It's climate change. It's already hit the poor people of this world. The sad thing is that it's us that's polluting and they are paying. They are suffering in ways we have never seen before. However, it's only a matter of time before the consequences hit us too. We cannot escape the reality of climate change. It's going to hit us, it's just a question of how soon.

Animals: Climate Change

The Climate Change Reality is increasing in all parts of the world. Ice is melting, increasing sea levels and reducing the territory for a number of animal species. Many will go extinct if we continue polluting as is. We must stop killing the earth before it is too late. There are no quick fixes and only one solution: stop emitting.

It will already be too late

Once we start feeling harsher symptoms of global warming it will be too late to turn our planet around. Right now, people are suffering economically, physically because of climate change. We must not wait for this pain to spread and intensify. We must act now against global warming.

Children and Climate Change

This video from UNICEF shows how children suffer from climate change. It is not us who are suffering from the greenhouse effect yet. However, if these disasters were happening to us, I'm sure that there wouldn't be such inaction as we see in our government now. We must reduce our emissions before the global warming will be our demise. We will start feeling effects soon. We cannot ignore the threat of climate change.
