Extremism is Blind to All

just like how Love is blind so is extremism. Love is blind to race and gender, and Extremism is blind to race and religion  The last tragedy that happened in Norway showed us that anyone can be an extremist and do many terrible things. Muslims aren't the only one's who have committed terrible acts. The Norwegian was a christian fundamentalist. We should learn that all religions have terrorist group, and not point the figure at one specific religion and say they are the cause of everything or the most. the vast majority of terrorist attacks are non religious. In the U.S a large part of terrorism is caused by Eco terrorism and animal rights terrorism. left wing terrorism any many circumstances is higher than right wing terrorism. So we can see than no one political ideology has the monopoly on terrorism. There should be no racial profiling, because anyone can be a terrorist. Not just one group. I think if people need to be stopped on an airport they should stop everybody. If there is real danger of an attack then the safest way to stop attacks is to watch out for everyone. If we watch out for a certain group then we allow big gaps in security which leads to other terrorist groups committing the crime. we have to learn from history to never assume that one group is responsible for everything. because there is lot's of blame for terrorism to go around.

Sivilizing Huck

It's been more than a century since Adventures of Huckleberry Finn has been written and people still want to sivilize Huck. A new version of the book will be published featuring the word "slave" instead of nigger. As the book was written in the nineteenth century, the n-word was commonplace and was not as offensive as it is today. Reading that book, one of the things I remarked was that the words "slave" or "slavery" are hardly ever mentioned. That is because African Americans were not slaves, they were simply "niggers." This book can teach us a lot about society at the time and how Huck battles with what he has been taught his whole life and comes to the conclusion that if helping Jim escape is a sin, then "I'll GO to hell."

The new book would take away this part of history and reduce the intensity of Huck's realization. However, I have no opposition to the publishing of the book as long as it's not touted as a complete replacement for the original manuscript. Adventures of Huckleberry Finn without the n-word would be good for children who are not mature enough to handle it. But, I stress that in no way the new edition should replace the old one. It is a complements the original. To properly learn this novel, one must read it with the the word "nigger."

A new edition of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer will replace the n-word with "slave" in an effort to boost acceptance of the books.

 Mark Twain's classics are frequently challenged because of the use of the racial slur and appeared as recently as 2007 on the American Library Association's list of most banned books.

No More Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Yesterday, the United States Senate voted to kill the ban on gays and lesbians openly serving in the military. It was basically a government-sponsored discrimination. This law should have been gone long before the end of 2010 and now, it finally is. These people who risk their lives for their country should not have to hide who they are, as Senator Ron Wyden said,

“I don’t care who you love,” Senator Ron Wyden, Democrat of Oregon, said as the debate opened. “If you love this country enough to risk your life for it, you shouldn’t have to hide who you are.”

I still cannot believe some of the opposition arguments. Apparently, repealing this policy will harm the battle effectiveness of the military. It mocks itself! Fourteen thousand soldiers had to leave the army because of this policy. I do not see how a loss of this many people can be effective. It's really amazing how much Republicans will do to try to stop discrimination. Some even hinted that they might block an arms treaty with Russia. The US has finally joined the many other countries, some not as rich as it, that allow gays to serve openly in the military. Congratulations!

The Free Speech Shield

Pearl Eliadis exposes the right's argument of free speech. There should be some exceptions to free speech, such as hate speech or defamation. It's obvious why defamation is not legal: because it's not fair to people when false claims are made against them. Hate speech too. It incites violence against certain groups. Speech like this should not be tolerated and that's why we have the courts: to remove the  "rights shield" for hate speech and defamation. And it's not censoring: these are fair limitations on free speech. As long as you don't accuse someone without any basis and with false information or promote violence against a certain group, you're free. That's fine with me.

This does not make the Superior Court of Justice a "censor." What it does is to remove the "rights-shield" from defamatory speech, thus protecting Vigna's rights and, for that matter, the rights of anyone similarly situated. The point, to borrow a phrase, is that people's reputations and rights should not become roadkill on the path to free speech.

Lady gaga a very popular singer in North America was fighting to get senators to vote to continue discussing a bill that would repeal the in just law of don't ask don't tell. Her effort although good was not strong enough to get the bill up for a vote.The policy don't ask don't tell was implemented in 1993 as a compromise by Bill Clinton to allow gays in the military only if they stay in the closet. This was because before 1993 gays where not allowed to join the military, and before that being gay was considered a mental illness n the military. The vote was taken September 21. 56 voted to allow the debate 43 voted against.It won the majority , but in order to allow the debate to continue you need 60 votes.

A law of descrmination in France.

A law was passed by the french senate that has before passed the lower house and now the bill is going to the president Nicola Sarkozy. This law would make it illegal for any women to wear a full body Burqua. This law is nothing less than descrimination. This law would make it illegal for women of the muslim faith to wear religouse clothing in public. That means Muslim women by law will be forced to be told what they can't wear. This is a right of anyone to wear whatever they want. People will be fined almost $200 to wear what they are rightfully aloud to wear. This is a horrific law and should be overturned.

Ironically, instead of helping some women integrate, the measure may keep them cloistered in their homes to avoid exposing their faces in public.

The measure affects fewer than 2,000 women, but Muslims believe it is one more blow to France's second religion, and risks raising the level of Islamophobia in a country where mosques, like synagogues, are sporadic targets of hate. Some women have vowed to wear a full-face veil despite the law.

Protest on mosque all over U.S

I think we all know about that mosque protest. The one that protest having a mosque in the state of Tennessee, California, and of course New york. In Tennessee A proposed mosque has been targeted with protest in Murfreesboro City hall. In the city the Muslim population has doubled so why can't they have a mosque? A protestor said that the "They seem to be against everything I believe in and I don't want them nessecerally in my neighbourhood spreading that type of comments". Apprently this man doesn't want a religon that promots peace in his neigbourhood. In Sacremento a pig was left at a mosque saying "Remember 9/11" "No mosque in NYC". Again People like in NYC have been painting Islam with a very broud brush. Saying that 9/11 was because of the religon. The thing is that people who did that horrific act on 9/11 where extremist of the religon that Islam the real part of the religon doesn't support.

The French Goverment continues it's discrimination.

French Prime Minister Nicolas Sarkozy has made a new law to evacuate all Roma people from France. Why? Well, apparently all Roma people are involved with crime, so says Sarkozy. There is some truth to the argument: there is is major crime coming from Roma camps. However, to evacuate all Roma people from the country, because a portion of the group is involved with crime is just stupid and descriminative. If you follow that ideology than you migt as well expell all cultures and groups, because there is bound to be at least one that is invovled with crime.The European Union and the UN consel on rascism condems this act of descrimination. It is just plain wrong to force all Roma people out when it is a minor group that is commiting crime. It would be much better if they increase law enforcement in these areas of high crime, but to evacuate the country of a people, because of this discrimination is wrong on the fullest degree.

Thousands of people have attended demonstrations in Paris and other French cities to protest against tough new security measures introduced by the government which they say are being used to target the country's Roma community.

France began clearing large numbers of illegal Roma camps in July, after Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president, announced a series of measures to fight crime.

A Republican who is for the mosque.

Ron Paul once a presidential nominee in 2008 is the one Republican I know of that actually understand the mosque issue. Ron Paul stated said that 9/11 should be blamed by terrorist groups not Islam saying that he doesn't support "painting Islam with a broad brush". He mentions more that he thinks that if a mosque is disrespecting 9/11 victims what about the strip clubs aren't they inappropriate so close to the 9/11 site. I think that mosque should be aloud , and that there is no reason to put a no on all mosques near the 9/11 site. Ron Paul said how Newt Gingrich is going overboard comparing the Islamic center as it would be like having a Nazi center near the Holocaust museum. I think comparing Nazi's a group like the KKK that is an illegal group in the U.S to a religion like Islam that promotes peace is insane. Now I am no big fan for Ron Paul, but you have to give him credit to him for going against the the republican wave of attack against this.

Tolerance not much in America.

You would think that a nation that stands on the value of immigration and opportunities to people who have been stripped of there right s would practice what they preach, but no in the start of the controversial mosque two blocs away from the WTC site few politicians have pushed support for it. In fact many republicans have pushed against it like Sarah Palin, tea party leader Mark William and now democratic senate majority leader Harry Reid is against it. 68% of Americans are against the mosque yet about 2/3 of Americans are against banning burqua in public places. It is the same thing. Religious freedom is to practice your right to pray or to not to believe at all anywhere you want. This might explain how many politicians have spoken against it, and maybe how the biggest supporter is Mayor bloomberg who can't run again so isn't put to much political pressure.I think that the main argument put by Republicans that a mosque would insult 9/11 families is wrong. The Islamic center that is being built is an Islamic center, so it is for the community like the Jewish center in Manhattan It is for anyone who wants to can join. Second is that 9/11 families should not be insulted by a mosque that is against radical terrorism, and a n Islamic center that wants to create peace and promote the true religion of Islam that supports peace. Maybe some of our politicians don't have the political will do support what they think is right, because they care to much of there popularity rating

The turmaninator supports gay marriage.

That right Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger supports gay marriage. After a court ruling that Proposition 8 was unconstitutional the Governor told the court that Gay marriage in California should resume. I that gay marriage should be allowed as soon as all the appeals are over. The reason is that if the appeal wins than Proposition 8 is then constitutional, and anyone who in between the appeal and the last ruling (if the Governor gets his way and Gay marriage is allowed before the ruling of the appeal) will then have a legal battle to keep there marriage status. I hope that tomorrow everyone that wants to get married should be able to get married. I feel bad for the U.S, because not allowing people to marry takes the right of people away and discriminates them that puts them in a disability compared to straight couples.

How they could be prejudice I don't know.

The ADL (the anti defamation league) is an organization that wants to stop the defamation of people. At Miriam Webster defamation is defined as "the act of defaming another" the definition of defaming "to harm the reputation of by libel or slander". This means that they are against harming reputation by accusation with no bases or fact. So why does the ADL say they disagree with the building of the mosque right next to the ground zero. They say that it would make 9/11 victims feel offended seeing a mosque next to ground zero. That isn't correct at all first if you are comparing an Islamic center for prayer to terrorism that is first a slander saying that all Muslims are for terrorism. Which is what the ADL should be against. The whole argument that it will insult 9/11 victims is so off. 9/11 victims shouldn't feel insulted, because this mosque isn't for terrorism it is an Islam center for prayer. This mosque should be seen as how tolerant we are as a society to allow everyone to have the right to pray wherever they want. This is a shame that a organization like the ADL who is against defamation is actually supporting it.

A mosque in New York City

A plan for a mosque to be build in NYC next to ground zero has been much criticized by some New yorkers. The plan was going to happen , but the idea of making the current building a landmark would stop the mosque dead in it's track. The panel of landmark preservation commission voted unanimously that the building wasn't a landmark, and now the building will be destroyed to create an Islamic center. This is great people should have the right to practice their fundamental right to religion, and that includes being able to pray wherever they want. The idea I think to connect people who want to pray and the terrorist who attacked the world trade center is just racism. Just because it is a Islamic center to allow people to pray doesn't mean it supports terrorism. I think this is stupid to deny a religion a center to pray , because some crazy people on 9/11 destroyed the WTC. You can't define any religion by some people of that religion. If you do that it is the definition of prejudice. So to not allow people because of Prejudice no matter what religion is wrong.

New York City's Landmarks Preservation Commission denied landmark status Tuesday for a building at the site of a proposed Islamic center and mosque near "ground zero."

There is a prayer site in the building currently, so Muslims are peacefully praying in the building already.

The Landmarks Preservation Commission pointed out prior to its decision that it would have nothing to do with the planned use of the structure.

No Ignatieff!

Liberal leader Ignatieff had a speech in Montreal. Ignatieff said that he supported Affermative action. I hate this idea. I feel that Affirmative action insults who people think it is helping. Affirmative action for (example: women) tells them that the only reason they got the job is because they where born a women. I think they would rather want to get a job because they where the best qualified not because they where born. To quote Martin Luther King "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." So we should not judge people by there gender in this case, and give them a job because of it. We should judge them by their charector, and that is how they should get the job. I support getting rid of Affirmative action. Because the system works against themselfs we say no one should be treated better yet we allow people to be treated better.

Just build the mosque.

In an earlier post I stated how a tea party leader went against the mosque being build next to the ground zero in New york calling it a place for Muslims to pray to there "monkey God". I think it is crazy not allowing a mosque near ground zero. It is so intolerant of us. I am sure if it was a church or a synagogue it would be aloud , and there would be no anger, and protest. In a committee meting people voiced there opinion for and against the proposal of a mosque. I say just build the mosque. The people who oppose it hate the idea, because they are afraid of radical Islam doing terrorist activities. I think that is plan racist! That is absolutely not a justified reason to stop the building of the mosque. I hope that they can build the mosque so people can see that they are just being paranoid.

France takes a step back in the world.

France has just passed a law that would make it illegal for wearing the Niqab, Burqa and Hijab in public places. I think this is bad. You can't force people not to wear something. There is not a justified reason to do this. It is freedom of expression , and nothing else. This bill passed the lower house in France by a margin 335 yes 1 no. This will be the first European country to pass a law of banning this clothing. I do think that in some circumstances like voting, driver license, passport and others a face must be shown, but in public area's I say no everyone like me should have the right to where whatever in the world we want. This is just sad that France would do this to it's own citizens. It is not tolerant of us to not allow people to wear what they want. I would hope no other countries follows France, and that France's upper house rejects this law.

Some 82 percent of people polled approved of a ban, while 17 percent disapproved. That was the widest support the Washington-based think tank found in any of the five countries it surveyed.

Clear majorities also backed burqa bans in Germany, Britain and Spain, while two out of three Americans opposed it, the survey found.

France's lower house of parliament Tuesday overwhelmingly passed a ban on any veils that cover the face -- including the burqa, the full-body covering worn by some Muslim women.

Comercial Canceled!

An advertisement in France has been canceled. I don't think it should have been canceled. The commercial shows just a male cat with a human body shaving. When the cat is done, it uses a soft drink for after shave. A man then touches the cat's shaven chin. This ad is 10 seconds! This ad has nothing wrong in it.  People are calling it the "gay cat ad". I say so what ? what is the world coming too when you can't even put an ad like this on the air. it is banned from french television for being "polemic". Merriam Webster defines Polemic as "an aggressive attack on or refutation of the opinions or principles of another" or "the art or practice of disputation or controversy." Neither of these sounds like good reason. This ad has nothing bad in it. Even see it for yourself.

Bye, Don't Ask Don't tell!

A new poll shows that 78% of Americans support the repeal of the "don't ask don't tell" law. This is great, and the Senate and House plan to vote on this soon. There only one catch: even if this bill is passed and then sighed by Obama today, there is still a military review which is going to have to be done before the policy is removed. This is expected to come in by the end of 2010. The truth is that no longer must people be afraid to express there sexual orientation, and then be denied to serve there country. This policy must be gone, and a overwhelmingly majority of Americans agree on this.

"There is a gender gap, with 85 percent of women and 71 percent of men favoring the change, but support remains high among both groups."

"Support is widespread, even among Republicans. Nearly six in ten Republicans favor allowing openly gay individuals to serve in the military," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "

Tea Party leader rasict

The tea party leader, Mark Williams blogged about a new mosque, and a new Islamic cultural center near ground zero. He said the mosque would be a place where the Muslims would pray to there "terrorists monkey-god." I think this is racist for him to say such a thing about another religion and for trying to make the connection between Islam and terrorism is just horrific. I think we can all agree that Mark Williams should apologize, but he sent an email to the media saying that he wasn't sorry. He even said that he meant to connect terrorism and Islam. Mark is setting a bad example for the tea party, and I can speak for many people when saying that racism should have no part in a democratic country.

"The monument would consist of a Mosque for the worship of the terrorists' monkey-god," Williams, a frequent guest on CNN, wrote on his Web site

In an e-mail to the Daily News, Williams was unapologetic - saying his comments were specifically aimed at the terrorists, which he described as "the animals of Allah."

Can childern be rascist?

In a study done by CNN, young children were shown multiple pictures of other children followed by a question from the supervisor. In a question to white children: "Show me the dumb child," 76% of them picked one of the two dark coloured children. Many other questions showed the same result. Now first, I would like to say this is not all technically a scientific study, but I think it does shows that there are childern that think badly of others because of different ethnicity. So question is are you teaching you're childern not to discriminate?
