Ont Goverment closing
Premier Dalton McGuinty said he will close the legislature "briefly". The Ontario Legislature will start next week McGuinty said, but he did not say when the break will start or for how long. People suspect that he did this because his newly shuffled cabinet can have more time to catch up on their files. McGuinty, this is not the right to thing to do. First, I am sure you can find time for the new ministers to catch up on what they are suppose to be doing. Second, many people in this country work more than our MPs, MNAs OR MLAs. What Harper did was wrong and if McGuinty goes along with this then it will be wrong too.

WTF? No bills die and its for a week. Dalton is using prorogue exactly the way it was intended.
ReplyDeleteWhats your problem? Dalton hater or something? You are undermining the very reason why harper was bad for doing what he did. Dalton is showing how its supposed to be done.
I'm getting tired of trying to teach the regressives Parliamentary procedure and the difference between a legitimate prorogation and abuse of the process. I'm not about to waste my time lecturing a so-called "progressive" on it.
ReplyDeleteBTW VERY VERY few people work more than an MP or MPP who is doing his job whether the legislature is prorogued or not. That really isn't the issue.
true Dalton reason for proroguing is better than Harper reason but still i do not think he had a really good reason for it
ReplyDeleteMcGuinty is just following the Canadian tradition of not making a throne speech without a break. The Ontario government wants to focus on other things and that's what the McGuinty is doing. All bills will be preserved and the break will be limited. This IS a good reason for proroguing.
ReplyDeleteAfter the poor public acceptance of the conservative proroguing of parliament I believe that this maneuver will be used very cautiously for at least a generation.

ReplyDeletewhat Harper did was legitimate he is allowed to do it even if his reason are not good but i think that Dalton does not have a good reason to close the legislature even if to have a throne speech which i find no real use of but even if all the bills are reserved Dalton does not have a good reason in my opinion do to it he may have the legal right to but in my eyes not a good reason
