New EKOS Poll

A new EKOS poll does not really show anything. The Canadian political landscape has been locked for a while now. Not one party has changed support substantially over the last year. The Tories maintain their usual seven point lead while the Liberals trail at 27%. This would allow for another Conservative minority government, albeit weakened. The Liberals would gain 20 seats. Even though the Liberals and Conservatives have put out ads, I do not think there is going to be an election in 2011. All it takes is one party to support the government and I think the NDP will. Some parties may not want an election, but Canadians do. 53% of EKOS respondents say they want a general election to happen in 2011.
[Ottawa – January 27, 2011] – The frozen political landscape appears almost totally inert. The Conservatives enjoy a mildly comfortable 7.5 point lead, but everything looks more or less as it did two weeks ago. These results are somewhat better for the Conservatives than in the late fall, but the outcome of an apparently looming election is very much in doubt. The public as forecasters say they lean to a Conservative result of the minority variety.

  1. Frank Graves and EKOS are a joke, taxpayer supported through the CBC, it borders on criminal.

    How are you Liberals going to explain this one:

  2. Anonymous Con Troll....

    1.) If you haven't seen the memo, there is editorial bias on both sides of the political spectrum (see: CTV, Fox News North, National Post, Sun Media and so on ) and;
    2.) Graves and EKOS have done polling for the conservatives in the past and your comment completely simplifies a rather complex process when it comes to statistics - remember that EKOS has also generally been the closest to being correct on election day, but I digress and;
    3.) The USA's corporate tax regime is more punishing than Canada's. Only Mexico has a more favourable tax structure for corporations in North America.

    Thats how we explain it. Moron.

  3. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't make them a Con troll. The reason this blog is on the internet is that it is free for people of all opinions to come and discuss topics.

  4. So even Obama wants to cut corporate taxes in order to be competitive and spur job growth.

    What does the coalition of losers have to say about their hero now?

  5. 1.)MSM is definitely biased to the left in Canada with a very few exceptions.

    2.)Total BS, show me where the COnservative Party has ever paid Graves for anyhting.

    3)The US tax regime is at first blush more punishing, but one also has to take into account the myriad tax breaks conferred on corporations down south.

    Moron, you stand corrected.

    True, but when you are cutting and pasting the exact same comment everywhere, you are a troll regardless of partisanship. Im sure of that we both agree and that is something Aonymous is very guilty of.

  7. "Moron, you stand corrected."

    Actually no, you didnt provide citation to any of your response. No citation no proof. Thus no standing corrected.

    That's just the way it is.

    it doesn't matter if you copy and paste, because that is still what you believe in, so I don't care. it's a free country and i am fine to have people copy and paste as long as they believe what they say.

  9. "In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion." - Wikipedia

    Anonymous' first comment distracts from the real content, which is discussing results of a poll and whether Canadians want an election by taking a pot shot at Frank Graves and CBC. He/she then proceeds to attack the Liberals on corporate taxes, by posting to a link, without backing up anything.

    This is the exact definition of a troll.

  10. I don't think calling people names is the right solution for any problem let alone on the internet.
